POSITION PURPOSE
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow (RF) is expected to advance the Fintech Lab’s mission to bridge academia and industry. By collaborating with the Schools of Business and IT across the university’s Australia and Malaysia campuses, the RF ensures that research efforts are interdisciplinary and relevant, producing tangible outcomes like peer-reviewed publications and grant-funded initiatives that elevate the lab’s academic and practical impact.
Beyond research, the RF serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange and capacity building within the Fintech Lab. Through mentoring postgraduate students, engaging with industry partners, and delivering workshops or policy briefs, the RF helps translate complex fintech concepts into actionable insights that benefit stakeholders in Malaysia, Australia, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Reporting line: The position reports to the Co-Director of the Monash Fintech Impact Lab.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Research Fellow will be expected to:
2. Design and execute independent and collaborative research projects in fintech areas.
3. Publish a minimum of six peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals (e.g., Q1/Q2
4. Scopus-indexed or A*/A-ranked ABDC journals) within the contract period.
5. Present research findings at international conferences or industry forums, if funding is available.
6. Co-author at least six grant proposals (e.g., national funding schemes or international collaborations) with the Fintech Impact Lab team, targeting a cumulative funding goal of MYR 120,000 or equivalent.
7. Co-author one white paper or policy brief annually for stakeholders based on research outcomes.
8. Organize or co-organize at least one workshop, seminar, or hackathon per year to foster knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and students.
9. Work with Lab Co-Director to identify and implement ways to contribute to Bank Negara’s Fintech Regulatory Sandbox in Malaysia.
10. Contribute to the lab’s visibility by maintaining an updated portfolio of research outputs on the lab’s website.

Education/Qualifications
1. PhD in a relevant field.
2. Demonstrated expertise in fintech-related topics through prior publications or projects.
3. Strong track record of academic writing and presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences.
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
5. Experience in grant writing or industry collaboration is an advantage.
6. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
7. Adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving research environment.
