Position: The School of Accountancy (School) in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University seeks applications for two qualified tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor. While we are open to all areas of research and teaching, we especially encourage applications from those with teaching interests in tax, as well as business processes and controls. These nine-month positions are designed to support the School’s degree programs in the College. The effective date of employment will be August 2025.
Responsibilities: Successful applicants will be expected to produce high-quality research, evidenced by publications in leading academic journals; to achieve teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and to provide appropriate service to the department, college, and university. The teaching load is commensurate with research expectations. In addition, candidates are expected to contribute to the collegial and intellectual environment of the department by working with other faculty members.
About the Department & Programs: The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong research program aligned with those of the School’s research-active faculty. The School values diverse research that meaningfully impacts practice and theory, and its growing faculty is comprised of active, successful researchers at all ranks who employ both archival and experimental methodologies across subdisciplines. This research diversity is evidenced by the School’s strong positions in various BYU rankings and recent publications in the top academic and practitioner journals. Faculty research programs are strongly supported with summer research funding and limited class preparations through tenure. Support is also provided for faculty participation at regional, national and international conferences, and faculty members have access to research participants and numerous data resources.
The School houses an undergraduate major and a Master of Accountancy program, and its online programs are consistently highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The School also provides instructional support to the highly-ranked Harbert College of Business MBA programs. The School has exceptional students: approximately 90% of undergraduates complete an internship, 100% of on-campus MAcc students receive graduate assistantships and have jobs waiting for them upon graduation, and MAcc candidates have historically averaged an 85% pass rate across all four sections of the CPA exam prior to graduation.
