Dr. Dedeaux’s research interest represents a dramatic departure from the profit driven world of advertising for luxury automobiles, and is now focused on creating communication strategies for philanthropic nonprofit organizations. Clay’s research is focused on donor’s cognitive processing of messages that advocate for recipients who are socially near or distant, as is the case of a charitable appeal for a domestic as compared to international cause. Dr. Dedeaux is particularly interested in sociologically and philosophically grounded communications research that promotes ethnic diversity and open society in which immigrants are allowed to contribute their best skills for the benefit of their host society.
