His primary research interests are in the areas of behavioral ethics, trust, leadership and cross-cultural management. He has published in journals such as Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Marketing Management Journal and has also co-authored a book chapter on managerial ethical decision making. James has presented his research at the, Academy of Management Annual Meetings, Ethics Resource Center Fellows Meeting, Society for Business Ethics Annual Meeting, and a variety of seminars, research symposia, and colloquia.
