My research agenda is primarily focused on investigating the factors that facilitate or inhibit goal-directed behavior in the context of information systems (IS) use. In pursuing my research program I rely heavily on behavioral and cognitive theories of psychology pertaining to the self-regulation of behavior. This research agenda is manifested in a number of projects that I’m actively pursuing across multiple streams of research. The first stream is related to investigating the dark side of information technology (IT) use. In this stream, the focus is on investigating the mechanisms underlying technology addiction in the context of mobile phone use. The second stream is related to investigating the effectiveness of IT design in the context of mobile health IT use. In this stream, the focus is on examining the influence of mobile based interventions on the adoption and maintenance of healthy life styles. The last stream of research, is related to investigating the use of social media networks for knowledge exchange in organizational setting as an intermediate step in the larger context of managerial goals achievement.
