Physiological and biochemical studies on plant response to UV radiation, visible radiation, temperature, heavy metals, fungal infection; application of stress for inducing plant quality traits; flavonoid antioxidant induction under stress.
Good knowledge of biotechnological tools and applications; climate change effects on biological and non-biological systems; scientific participation in UNEP bodies (Environmental Effects Assessment Panel, Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, Open-Ended Working Group). Supervisor of PhD students on research projects relating to climate change adaptation in agriculture and landuse, climate change assessments for Pacific islands, food security, water security, Kaitiakitanga o Te Taiao (Reconciling Legislative Provisions and M?ori Perspective), preservation of natural character; and coastal environmental issues
