Michael D. Lee CPA is the Member Education Manager with the Golden 1 Credit Union. Michael spent 8 years as a practicing CPA with an international and a local CPA firm. Since 1996, Michael has been in the financial services industry working with individuals as well as small business owners. His practice focuses on the advantages of asset management programs and financial planning available through XCU Capital Corporation. Michael has been the Member Education Manager since the inception of the program in 2000. Michael has presented approximately 150 financial workshops per year to Golden 1 members, senior groups, businesses and high school students.
Mr. Lee is a faculty member in the business departments of UC Davis, CSU Sacramento and Los Rios Community College District. Michael has written several articles for publications and newsletters on the importance of well educated and informed investing decisions. Michael is a well-known and respected speaker on a wide range of financial subjects. He also conducts a popular series of financial workshops throughout the year for the Golden 1 members, employer groups and schools that help people understand the financial planning process and making better financial decisions. Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and the Institute of Management Accountants, for which he was President for 1992-1993. Michael is also a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento Area.
Michael graduated from CSU Sacramento in 1988 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accountancy and Communications. Michael graduated from CSU Sacramento with a Masters in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance in 1996. Michael has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1990. Michael is licensed with the SEC and NASD and he also has an Insurance license since 1996.
