International market entry strategies, consumer decision making, strategic planning, and marketing strategies. Professor Akhter’s research has appeared in marketing and international business journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, The International Trade Journal, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Global Marketing, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Direct Marketing, among others. His book on Global Marketing was published by Southwestern Publishing Co.

Professor Akhter has Guest Edited special issues of the Journal of Direct Marketing and Journal of Interactive Marketing on International Direct Marketing and International Interactive Marketing, respectively. He is currently guest editing the second special international issue of Journal of Interactive Marketing. Professor Akhter serves as a consultant and conducts global marketing seminars internationally.
