  • Dr. Christian Chamorro-Courtland’s main research is comparative in nature, and it relates to the regulation of the financial markets, financial technology (“fintech”) and consumer protection. He has published various articles about the legal aspects of Central Counterparty (CCP) clearing systems in leading law journals. Christian’s research has led to the recommendation of various policy reforms in order to maximize legal certainty and reduce systemic risk in the international financial markets. His research has also proposed legal reforms in order to protect the funds of retail consumers who invest in the financial markets. Furthermore, Christian has written about whistleblowing legislation in order to reduce fraud in the financial markets. Christian has also written about the various methods for allocating losses when there is a shortfall in a commingled trust account. Many of his articles have been cited in prominent international reports, journals, books and court cases.
