Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Cybersecurity

The School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg is seeking qualified applicants for a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Cybersecurity (non-tenure line) to begin January 2025 or August 2025. The successful candidate will combine a strong background in cybersecurity and network security with a commitment to innovative teaching and student success. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who shares our commitment to teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will also contribute to our efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students and engage in scholarly and service activities supporting institutional goals. The School of Business Administration is AACSB accredited. Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Cybersecurity include:

Teaching: Specific job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, security, and risk analysis. These courses are taught in-person and synchronously. Primary teaching areas include the following: digital networking and network security, cybersecurity and cyber forensics, security and malware analytics, and risk management. Secondary teaching areas could include the following: static and dynamic malware analysis, cyber defensive techniques, cybersecurity-related machine learning, programming skills (Java & Python), and database technology.

Research/Scholarship: Faculty are expected to maintain a high level of professional activity through scholarship and service.

Service: All faculty are expected to undertake committee work, advising, community engagement, and mentorship, and make other contributions to the campus, to DEIB goals and initiatives, and to the broader academic community.

Qualifications: Preferred candidates will hold a doctorate in cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field with specialization in cybersecurity and network security. Candidates with a master's degree in cybersecurity, Information Technology or a related field and possess security-related certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, CCNA, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply. In order to start at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor (as opposed to Lecturer), the successful candidate must receive their doctorate degree prior to appointment.
