Position Description
We are looking for academics who are not only exceptional educators and researchers, but who are also enthusiastic about addressing real-world challenges in Africa through their work. We particularly welcome candidates with multidisciplinary backgrounds, as we believe that diverse academic perspectives enrich our teaching, research, and community engagement. Attributes the ideal candidate should possess include (but not limited to): A strong academic background, a demonstrated track record of quality research, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students within a context-relevant framework. The successful applicant will be expected to make significant contributions to the School's research agenda; teach undergraduate, graduate and executive courses; develop curricula for graduate programs; and actively engage in service activities that enhance both academic and professional communities.
We invite applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, in the following fields:
• Accounting: Courses to be taught include (but not limited to): Managerial Accounting, Tax, Auditing and Assurance, Financial Reporting, Forensic Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Public Sector Accounting.
• Entrepreneurship: Courses to be taught include (but not limited to): Agri-Business, Technology Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, New Venture Creation, Blockchain and Fintech innovations, Family Business Management, and Growth Hacking.
• Management: Courses to be taught include (but not limited to): Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the future of work, Digital Transformation Strategy, Strategic Management, Project Management, Technology Management, Sustainability Management, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Sustainable Supply Chain, Supply Chain Dynamics, Supply Chain Finance, and Operations Management.
• Marketing: Courses to be taught include (but not limited to): Digital Marketing, AI/Data Driven Marketing, and Electronic Commerce.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching:
- Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate, graduate and executive program levels, utilizing a wide range of methodologies and approaches, informed by current research and industry developments;
- Delivering engaging, well-organized, and informative lectures or seminars to students;
- Developing lectures, presentations, reading materials, assignments, and multimedia resources that effectively convey the subject matter both in person and online;
- Assess and grade students’ work and examinations and provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Observe office hours and have regular contact with students in order to provide support.
- Effectively using learning management systems, multimedia tools, and other educational technologies to enhance instruction;
- Effectively incorporate project-based learning and entrepreneurship in each class;
- Supervise and mentor students' internships and capstone projects.
Research and Innovation:
- Conduct quality and impactful research, specifically focusing on innovative solutions addressing challenges and real-world problems in the African context;
- Publish research findings in top-tier academic journals (targeting publications in outlets ranked FNEGE: 2/1, ABDC: A/A*, ABS 3/4/4*, FT-50) and contribute to the global academic community;
- Actively seek external funding for research and innovation projects;
- Engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations, both internally and externally;
- Establish and nurture partnerships with industry and other academic institutions to facilitate research impact.
Service:
- Contribute to curriculum development and academic program management, ensuring relevance to the African context;
- Actively participate in academic and administrative service for institution building;
- Engage in service to both the local and broader communities.
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized institution.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level and executive programs.
• A strong publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals.
• Experience in curriculum development.
• Ability to secure external funding.
• Commitment to academic service and community engagement.
• Native-like fluency in English.
• Familiarity with the US-style of higher education.
Experience:
• Essential:
At least two years of teaching experience at university level in the African context.
Publications in ranked peer-reviewed journals in the area of specialization or closely related fields (at least 2 ABS Rank 3 or 4 ABS Rank 2 articles).
• Highly recommended:
International teaching experience and/or study or extended stay in an English-speaking country.
• Desirable:
Practical experience in organizations or industry.
Professional certification(s) in the field of expertise.
