Research Assistant (m/f/d)

(E 13 TV-G-U, 100% full-time)

Our Research Focus

For many years, we have conducted research on a wide range of topics in the digital economy. They include:

  • Online platforms such as the Amazon Marketplace,
  • Online advertising (including programmatic advertising),
  • Generative AI,
  • Marketing analytics,
  • Online user privacy,
  • Valuation of online companies.

In the future, we may also focus on areas such as pricing of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), internet fraud prevention or Web 3.0. Our work is empirical, utilizing R for econometric analysis and Python for analyzing unstructured data and machine learning.

Your Challenge

You will conduct empirical research on the aforementioned or other innovative digital topics.

Our Offer

  • Excellent supervision on your way to an outstanding dissertation, which includes very extensive and high-frequency feedback on your research ideas (Prof. Dr. Bernd Skiera received the award for best PhD supervision at Goethe University Frankfurt in 2023),
  • Participation in international conferences and research stays abroad,
  • Regular meetings with national and international guest researchers,
  • Opportunity to deepen your scientific education in doctoral studies,
  • Best conditions for an outstanding career after the doctorate – particularly in academia, but also in practice.

So, we offer a responsible and interesting position with very good training and development opportunities.

Working at the chair involves publishing high-quality articles, supervising undergraduate theses, and contributing to teaching. We value an independent, team-oriented, motivated, and creative working style. Our research environment should enable you to complete your dissertation in slightly more than three years.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • An excellent university degree in business, economics, business informatics, industrial engineering, or a comparable field of study,
  • Research project ideas for your dissertation
  • In-depth knowledge of econometrics, statistics, machine learning, or mathematics
  • Programming skills in R, Python, Stata, or comparable software
  • Excellent English skills and, ideally, very good German skills

Additionally, we value organized and structured project management skills and prefer candidates with practical and international experience.

Please send your application by email by August 31, 2024, to skiera@wiwi.uni-frankfurt.de. Early applications (even before graduation) are welcome. Your application should include a cover letter, detailed CV, complete transcripts of grades (bachelor’s and master’s degrees), certificates, and, if available, TOEFL and GMAT test results (or equivalent).
