Job Description
The School of Accountancy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University seeks candidates for Director of the School of Accountancy at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. This is an annual 10-month tenured appointment and begins July 25, 2025. The School of Accountancy offers an MSA and BSBA in Accounting, in face-to-face and online teaching environments. The Strome College of Business and the School of Accountancy are AACSB accredited.
The mission of the ODU School of Accountancy is to be recognized as a forerunner in accounting education and to become a center of excellence in teaching, research, and commitment for the business and community stakeholders in the Mid-Atlantic region. To do so, we provide foundational academic knowledge and applied business experiences to our diverse student population to position them as life-long learners who will succeed as accounting professionals and achieve social mobility.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications
Ph.D. degree in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited university or international equivalent.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Research record that meets requirements for appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor.
- A record of successful teaching, both online and face-to-face.
- A record of successful leadership in an academic school, department, center, institute, program, or similar entity.
- Evidence of successful engagement with both the professional and local business communities as value-adding partnerships.
- Experience with AACSB accounting accreditation process and compliance with accreditation reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (i.e., CPA, CMA, etc.)
- Prior professional work experience in accounting or an accounting related field.
- Evidence of participation in fundraising activities.
